To increase peoples’ participation to assert their right for safe water WWHL is creating awareness among the people to prevent water borne diseases and organizing them to assert their basic right to safe drinking water.

Advocacy and Lobbying for the improvement of Water and Sanitation system in UCs:
Eighty percent of illnesses in developing countries are blamed on water-borne diseases, resulting in an estimated 2.5 billion illnesses and 5 million deaths each year. Pressure groups are being mobilized to arrange meetings with line departments for the improvement of safe drinking water and proper sanitation. WWHL has observed that drinking water in Shahdara is highly contaminated and poisonous. People are suffering hepatitis, dysentery and stomach related other diseases at large extent. They are almost unaware about the importance of boiled and safe drinking water. With the help of community people, meetings are being arranged with line departments to make the water safe for citizens. A media campaign will be launched to highlight these issues.

Similarly due to the negligence of the water & sanitation departments, residents of the union council of Kot Lakhapat are facing difficulties of improper sanitation systems in the area particularly in rainy season, it is simply impossible to pass through the streets and roads. By forming community groups, advocacy tools and strategies will be undertaken to address the issues.
